Rain or Shine but not Snow!

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" is an inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City, and I THOUGHT this was an official United States Postal Service has no official creed or motto.

Well. No. In fact the USPS has not "official" creed or motto.

And they may come in rain or shine... but they certainly do not come in snow 'round these parts. And they CAN be stopped and call it quits before they complete their appointed rounds.

To be fair we did get 22 inches of snow and the road we live on dead ends to the Chesapeake Bay. Heck, we don't even have street lights.

It started snowing around 9:30 Friday night and it didn't stop until around 11 PM SATURDAY NIGHT. The kids were in heaven. I was in a little bit of hell.

I had shopping to do!

I had Saturday and Sunday all mapped out with where I needed to go and what I needed to get and even how long it was going to take me. You see, Santa kind of waited until the last minute this year and well, she was scrambling a bit.

We haven't seen snow like this since 2003. We can handle 3 inches no problem - maybe even 6 with a delay or two. But 22? It shut us down! The MALLS were closed! You know when they close a mall around Christmas it's an emergency situation. And in fact it was... an official state of emergency Saturday in Maryland.

We FINALLY got mail today. It's Tuesday. We didn't get it Saturday OR Monday. UPS either.

I have a huge pile of boxes to sort through because Santa went a little nuts and panicked when he couldn't make it to the mall.

Did you know Santa has to pay for express shipping? Sucks to be Santa when it snows in Maryland.

P.S. There is one special box in the mix. A special box from a little reindeer I know from Winnipeg, Canada! I'm squealing with excitement over here and I can't wait to get into that special box!
